Forte No. 2 rusher in Bears annals

After rushing for 77 yards in today's loss to the Rams, Bears running back Matt Forte passed Neal Anderson for the second most rushing yards in Chicago franchise history.

Chicago Bears running back Matt Forte has 851 rushing yards this season, 77 of which came today against the St. Louis Rams. His career total now sits at 6,178 rushing yards over six seasons with the Bears, which is the second most rushing yards in franchise history. Forte passed Neal Anderson, who rushed for 6,166 yards between 1986-1993.

Forte is second in Bears annals only to Walter Payton, who had 16,726 rushing as a Chicago running back. It's safe to say Forte won't be breaking that record during his career but passing Anderson, who was an outstanding tailback in his own right, is quite an accomplishment.

Forte injured his right knee during the game but returned to action a few plays later. He said after the game he is "all right" after suffering "a couple injuries." Coming into this afternoon's contest, Forte was third in the NFL with 1,148 yards from scrimmage. He added 103 yards to that total today.
