Carimi, the club's 2011 first-round draft pick, has reportedly been away from the team since April 18, the last day of voluntary workouts. Since then, he's been working out on his own in Arizona.
OTAs are voluntary and it appears Carimi has exercised his option not to attend. He was the only eligible player not at practice today. Carimi is in a fight for a starting spot on the offensive line. This doesn't bode well for his chances at winning a job with the first team, or even of keeping his spot on the roster.
We won't speculate as to the reason Carimi was missing today but obviously something is amiss. The Bears practice again tomorrow, a session open to the media. We'll see if Carimi changes his mind before then and shows up at Halas Hall.
