Jones Taking Talents to NFL

After an injury-ridden redshirt junior season, Chandler Jones announced his intention on entering the NFL Draft on Friday.

Though he missed five games due to a knee injury, Syracuse defensive end Chandler Jones still led the team with 4 1/2 sacks.

He was a force against the pass during SU's biggest moments in each of the last three seasons, but he won't be back for a redshirt senior season.

On Friday afternoon, during a planned announcement, Jones let the Orange community know that he will be entering the 2012 NFL Draft.

"I have decided to forego my final football season at Syracuse University and enter the 2012 NFL draft," Jones said via Twitter.

Jones added two forced fumbles and an interception to his resume this season in just seven games. His SU career wraps up with 148 total tackles and 10 1/2 sacks. The two-time All-Big-East selection started the final 20 games of his college career.

"I just want to thank all the Cuse fans, alum, teammates, & coaches for supporting me those 3yrs," he later posted.

As for his pro chances, most would agree that he has early-round talent - though the injury certainly hurts his chances. The NFL Draft is a three-day event beginning April 26. Recommended Stories
