QB Jay Cutler: Passer Has to be Smarter with Football by The Sports Exchange of BearReport.com, September 20, 2009 at 8:26am ET
Jay Cutler Profile
Job 1 for QB Jay Cutler is to avoid the ill-conceived throws he made last week that resulted in four interceptions. Cutler appeared way out of sync with his receivers last week, and he said he must take care of the ball better this week.
"I've just got to be careful and not put those guys in those spots and limit when we're going to take chances like that," Cutler said. "I've just got to be better out there and make sure whenever I let it go I know where they're going."
Defensively, the Bears are coming off a good week of limiting the run, allowing Green Bay 76 yards on 22 carries. The Steelers got just 19 yards on 13 carries from Willie Parker, so the Bears should be able to shut down the Pittsburgh ground game. But that didn't stop the Steelers from winning last week, so containing Ben Roethlisberger is their most pressing concern.
