RB Kahlil Bell: Ball Carrier Added to Practice Squad by John M. Crist of BearReport.com, September 16, 2009 at 2:34pm ET
Kahlil Bell Profile
The Monsters of the Midway don't have Kevin Jones as the primary backup to Matt Forte at running back anymore, losing the veteran for all of 2009 due to a preseason ankle injury, so a transaction was made Wednesday to strengthen that position.
The Bears added Kahlil Bell, an undrafted rookie free agent from UCLA, to the practice squad. Bell originally signed with the NFC North rival Vikings, although he had little chance to make the team with a superstar in Adrian Peterson atop the depth chart plus a quality reserve in Chester Taylor coming off the bench. Since neither Garrett Wolfe nor the Chicago version of Adrian Peterson did much in training camp to warrant significant playing time on offense, Bell could be called upon down the road if Forte and the running game continue to struggle.
To make room for Bell on the practice squad, the Bears said goodbye to undrafted rookie free agent guard Johan Asiata.
