2002: Did not play as a rookie with the Falcons, dressing as the team's third QB for 15 games and served as Doug Johnson's backup for 1 contest at NYG (10/13) when Vick could not play.
COLLEGE: Finished collegiate career at Illinois (1998-2001) as the most successful QB in school history with a school-record 24 wins. Completed 682-of-1,264 passes for 8,722 yards and became the Illini's all-time leader with 70 career TD passes. His 682 completions and 8,722 passing yards both ranked 2nd in Illinois annals behind Jack Trudeau while his 1,264 pass attempts topped the career charts. As a senior was named a third-team All-American and second-team All-Big 10 after leading the Illini to their first conference title in 11 years. Finalist for the Johnny Unitas Award and semi-finalist for the Davey O'Brien Award (best QB) after completing 221-of-409 passes for 3,256 yards and a school-record 27 TDs. Gained 3,242 yards in total offense to become just the third Illinois player (Jack Trudeau, 3,321 in 1985; Tony Eason, 3,331 in 1981 and 3,671 in 1982) to surpass 3,000 total yards of offense in a season. As a junior ranked 4th in the Big Ten, completing 173-of- 297 passes for 1,982 yards with 18 TDs and 8 INTs. As a sophomore totaled 2,702 passing yards after completing 216-of-396 attempts with 24 TDs and 5 INTs. Named MVP of Micronpc.com Bowl. Majored in finance.
PERSONAL: Played QB and LB at Schaumburg H.S. and had amassed nearly 1,200 passing yards through 4 games when a broken right thumb ended his QB duties. Returned with a cast on his hand to play LB during the second half of the season. As a junior threw for 1,891 yards and 20 TDs to lead Schaumburg to its second-straight playoff appearance. |
