Biography:
After not playing a game in his rookie season because of a jaw injury, Todd Johnson returned to start 10 contests at free safety. Can play both strong and free safety and will add depth in the secondary. Entered the NFL as a fourth-round selection (100th overall) by Chicago in the 2003 NFL Draft.

2004: Played in all 16 games, starting 10 at FS for injured Mike Brown, during first full season in NFL... Ranked 8th on the team and 3rd in secondary with 72 tackles including 2 TFLs with 4 PBUs and 1 fumble recovery... Recorded double-digit tackles in 2 games and led the secondary in tackles on 3 occasions... Tied for 7th on team with 10 special teams tackles.

2003: Spent final 15 weeks of his rookie season with the Bears on injured reserve due to a broken jaw suffered in preseason. Inactive for season opener at SF (9/7/03).

COLLEGE: Three-time All-SEC performer during his career at Florida (1998-2002), spending the final 2-plus years at free safety after beginning his career at strong safety. Started 37-of-49 career games played and recorded 284 tackles, including 187 solos with 15 PBUS, 9 INTs and 4 blocked kicks/punts. Concluded career with second-team All-SEC recognition as a senior, starting all 13 games and recording 88 tackles and 2 INTs. Recorded both INTs, plus 3 PDs and 10 tackles, vs. Miami. Recorded season-high 12 tackles vs. Florida State. Ended college career with 10 tackles in the Outback Bowl vs. Michigan. Earned first and second-team All-SEC honors as a junior, starting all 11 regular season games and posting 72 tackles, 3 PDs and 2 INTs en route to making the Thorpe Award watch list. Sophomore campaign was his first as a starter and was highlighted by a firstteam All-SEC selection and recognition as the team's outstanding DB. Started the first 4 games at SS before moving to FS for the last 9 games, including the Sugar Bowl. Recorded career-high 102 tackles with 3 PDs and 5 INTs while forcing 1 fumble, recovering 4 others. Totaled 86 fumble return yards with a 76-yard TD. First career action came as the top backup at SS and on special teams in all 12 games as a redshirt freshman, receiving an All-Freshman team nod while recording 24 tackles, 4 PBUs, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery and ranking 2nd on UF with 10 special teams tackles. Majored in physical education teaching.

PERSONAL: Started at FS over his final 2 years at Riverview H.S. in Sarasota, Fla. and totaled 11 INTs during that span. Gained All-America recognition as a senior from several recruiting publications after totaling 91 tackles and 6 INTs in 1997. A member of Florida's Super Seniors Team, garnered first-team All-State (6A) honors while earning the Defensive Player-of-the-Year for his area by the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. Also received Honorable Mention All-America accolades from USA Today while being ranked among the top-five safety prospects in the country and the Southeast region. Also a track athlete who was first-team All-State as a junior. Involved with Habitat for Humanity, Youth for Christ and his local church youth group.
