2003: Started the first 6 games at SS for Chicago, but a groin injury kept him out of 6 of the last 10 games while making just 2 more starts. Still ranked 10th on the team in tackles and recorded his first career INT while starting 8-of-10 games played. Inactive for Games 8, 11-12, and 15 before going on injured reserve due to his injury.
2002: In first season as Bears starting SS, ranked 2nd on team with career-high 138 tackles while ranking 3rd with 15 special teams tackles. Twice led Chicago defenders in tackles, only player besides Brian Urlacher to do so in '02, while reaching double- digits in 7 games. Listed as the leading tackler among all NFL defensive backs.
2001: Bears leading tackler among nonstarters recording 68 tackles as the team's 'dime'-back in 16 regular season games played, starting twice when the team opened the game with their 'dime' package. Special teams stalwart ranked 2nd on Chicago with career-high 25 special teams tackles.
2000: Saw action in 7 games on special teams, contributing 3 tackles. Participated in Games 3-6, 13-14 and 16.
COLLEGE: Four-year letterwinner and two-year starter at safety at Northwestern State (La.) (1996- 99), earning All-America and All-Southland Conference honors as a junior and senior. Ranked 3rd on team with 99 tackles as a senior after finishing 2nd on team with 104 tackles his junior season. Recorded 25 PBUs and 4 INTs during his career. Also excelled on track team, anchoring the Demons relay teams. Majored in criminal justice.
PERSONAL: First-team All-State selection and team MVP at Ruston (La.) H.S. Had 7 blocked kicks and 5 INTs as a senior after 2 blocked kicks and 2 INTs as a junior. Past community involvement includes participating with fellow members of Bears secondary and Meals on Wheels to "Intercept Hunger" with meal donations being made based on player performance.
