With the 25th pick in Round 5, the Chicago Bears selected Michigan State tight end Kellen Davis. According to Scout.com, Davis is the No. 8 player available at his position. Here is a scouting report on Davis with all the highlights you need to know about the newest Midway Monster.

TE Kellen Davis – Michigan State

The numbers: 6-7, 262 pounds, 4.59 seconds in the 40-yard dash, 22 bench-press reps at 225 pounds, 28-inch vertical jump.

The skinny: Davis offers a sensational combination of size and speed at the tight end position this late in the draft, as character issues stemming from a campus fight in East Lansing sent his stock plummeting. But on the field, he offers a huge target in the passing game, became a pretty good blocker on the ground, and also has a lot of experience on special teams.

The analysis: The Bears were in need of a third tight end after John Gilmore left for Tampa Bay in free agency, so Davis will start his Chicago career behind veteran Desmond Clark and last year's first-rounder Greg Olsen. Former practice squader Fontel Mines is still on the roster, but he's a former wide receiver and isn't big enough yet to be an effective blocker.
