Originally a third-round draft choice out of Arizona in 2003, Briggs has overtaken future Hall of Famer Brian Urlacher as the best linebacker in the Windy City. While he has had some questionable off-the-field behavior from time to time, including an infamous late night/early morning two summers ago when he wrecked his $350,000 Lamborghini on the Edens Expressway and fled the scene, the former Wildcat has done a fine job rehabbing his image recently. Urlacher, on the other hand, seems only to be distancing himself from the Chicago public that has adored him for so long.
Briggs scoffed at the notion that he was trying to hide the razor indicent from the heads at Halas Hall.
"You don't have to report if you cut yourself with a razor," he said. "If I was cutting a cake with a knife and cut my finger, and I felt like I was in danger, then I would have called a doctor. If it had been something dire, then I would have notified the Bears organization."
