John Crist: The coaching staff always tells us that, in this defense, the Sam (strong-side linebacker) isn't necessarily a playmaking position. So if you're not out there to be a playmaker, what exactly are you doing?
Nick Roach: It's really about responsibility, just being where you're supposed to be and more of a deterrant position. Maybe you don't make plays by actually making the tackle or getting the sack, but you take away things from the offense and turn them back to the Mike (middle linebacker) and the Will (weak-side linebacker) so they can make the actual tackles.
