The defense gave up their second most points of the year, while the offense managed just one touchdown. The combination led to the end of their eight-game winning streak.

FIRST QUARTER: WR Hines Ward 14-yard touchdown reception from QB Ben Roethlisberger. For the first time all year the Bears defense gave up a touchdown on the opening drive. A screen pass to Willie Parker opened up as he gashed the defense for a 45-yard yard gain. He followed that up with a 9-yard run. On 3rd and 2, Roethlisberger used the play-action and went to Ward for a short pass and the receiver did the rest. PAT by Jeff Reed was good. Drive: 5 plays, 66 yards in 2:52. Steelers 7, Bears 0.

Robbie Gould 29-yard field goal at 2:30. The Bears answered the Pittsburgh score with an extended drive. Orton completed 3-of-6 passes for 38 yards. Jones rushed 25 yards on 5 carries, including a 20-yard run that moved the ball past midfield. An 8-yard scramble by Orton on 3rd down convinced coach Lovie Smith to go for it on 4th and 1. Jones converted for a fresh set of downs. Completions of 15 and 12 yards set up first and goal from the 2, but the Bears failed to get in the end zone. Drive: 14 plays, 63 yards in 6:46. Steelers 7, Bears 3.

SECOND QUARTER: RB Jerome Bettis 1-yard touchdown run at 7:25. The Bears had the Steelers stopped, but for some reason accepted a pass interference penalty that gave Pittsburgh another down. Roethlisberger hit Parker on a screen pass for 16 yards and a first down. After two runs by the Steers resulted in 20 yards, Roethlisberger hit Cedric Wilson for a 17-yard completion. Parker nearly dove into the end zone on an 11-yard first down run, but Bettis finished the job. PAT by Reed was good. Drive: 9 plays, 73 yards in 5:19. Steelers 14, Bears 3.

THIRD QUARTER: Bettis 5-yard touchdown run at 5:23. Another muffed punt fielded inside the 10-yard line by Bobby Wade coupled with a three and out by the offense gave Pittsburgh the ball near midfield. Four consecutive runs yielded 22 yards. Roethlisberger found Antwaan Randle El wide open on 3rd and 14 for 15 yards and a first down. Roethlisberger converted another third down with a 9-yard completion to Quincy Morgan. Bettis scored for the 90th time in his career. PAT by Reed was good. Drive: 12 plays, 52 yards in 7:01. Steelers 21, Bears 3.

FOURTH QUARTER: RB Thomas Jones 1-yard run at 13:38. The Bears didn’t test the Steelers secondary downfield much, but Orton did hit Desmond Clark and Bernard Berrian for 27 and 43 yards on consecutive attempts. PAT by Gould was wide left. Drive: 3 plays, 71 yards in 1:22. Steelers 21, Bears 9.
