The Bears won't make it official until tomorrow but it appears likely that quarterback Jay Cutler, who has missed the past month with an ankle sprain, will return this week against the Browns.

Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler hasn't taken a meaningful snap in over a month due to a high ankle sprain suffered in Week 10. The team has not yet name him the starter but Cutler has been cleared to practice at full speed. He'll undergo a workout this afternoon and, if all goes well, he'll be named the start for Sunday's contest against the Cleveland Browns.

“I anticipate the workout will be a good one," coach Marc Trestman said today. "“We’ll have receivers there afterward. We’ll work him through drops. We’ll redirect him in the pocket, move him up and down, and try to get as much suddenness as we can. We saw it last wee but again, he’s been off for three or four days now, so we want to see him do it again and make sure that he feels good and we feel good.”

Trestman said the team will officially announce the starter tomorrow but he's optimistic Cutler will play.

"If things go as planned, that’s where we’ll go," said Trestman, "but we do want to work him out one more time today after coming off a few days of being off.

"He’s been cleared from a standpoint of allowing us to work him out at full speed, and allowing him to make a decision and us to make a decision based on how he works out and how he feels after he works out."
