After participating in a full practice today, Chicago Bears head coach Marc Trestman said quarterback Jay Cutler is set to start this weekend against the Detroit Lions.

Chicago Bears head coach Marc Trestman said today that Jay Cutler is on track to start this Sunday against the Detroit Lions. Cutler is recovering from a groin injury suffered in Week 7 against the Washington Redskins.

“The doctors have cleared him to play,” Trestman said. “Jay really understand his body and he’s a unique athlete. It says a lot about his commitment to the team.”

The initial timetable was a minimum of four weeks recovery. Trestman said Cutler’s quick turnaround is unique.

“The doctors told us the injury was what it was, a legitimate four-week injury,” said Trestman. “Jay really understand his body and he’s a unique athlete. It says a lot about his commitment to the team.”

Brandon Marshall, who predicted two weeks ago that Cutler would be back this Sunday, said yesterday he feels vindicated for his correct prediction.

“He’s back, he’s back, the prediction was right,” Marshall said. “I look like a genius right now.”

Offensive coordinator Aaron Kromer said the scheme against the Lions will not change now that Cutler is back under center.

"I think anytime you get your starting QB back from injury you feel good about that,” said Kromer today. “If he’s cleared to go, we’re doing everything.”
