Bears elevate Tupou to active roster

The Chicago Bears have elevated defensive tackle Christian Tupou from the practice squad to the active roster and have placed defensive tackle Nate Collins on injured reserve.

LAKE FOREST, IL – The Chicago Bears elevated DT Christian Tupou (two-poe) to the active roster from the practice squad and placed DT Nate Collins on injured reserve due to a knee injury.

The 6-2, 290-pound Tupou spent the entire preseason with the Bears, appearing in all four preseason games, recording four tackles and one sack. He is in his rookie season out of USC after going undrafted and unsigned in 2012. He appeared in 41 games with 32 starts over five seasons (2007-11) for the Trojans, recording 53 tackles and seven tackles for losses.

Collins appeared in five contests with two starts for the Bears this season, recording 12 tackles, one sack and one tackle for loss.

Tupou will wear No. 64.
