Chicago wideout Brandon Marshall eclipsed 1,000 yards receiving today, the first Bears receiver to do so since Marty Booker in 2002.

Chicago Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall caught 12 passes for 92 yards today against the Minnesota Vikings. He now has 1,017 yards on the season, the first Bears receiver to do so since Marty Booker's 1,189 yards in 2002.

“I definitely take pride in it," Marshall said after the game. "There is a great quote out there that says ‘Don’t confuse activity with production.’ You have to be productive in anything you do in life. This is what I do now for a living."

Marshall has eclipsed 1,000 yards in each of his past six seasons. The only other receivers to top 1,000 yards from 2007-2011 are Arizona's Larry Fitzgerald and Atlanta's Roddy White. Marshall is the ninth player in Bears franchise history to break the 1,000-yard plateau. He said he was aware of his statistics during the game.

“In the third quarter I leaned over to Jay [Cutler] and said ‘That catch puts me at 1,000 yards for six seasons in a row.’ And he looked at me and said ‘You’re disgusting.’ So yes, I’m aware of it. It’s social media. That’s how I know stats and records because the guys that follow me on twitter are tweeting me everyday things that I’m not aware of."

Marshall’s 12 receptions on Sunday tied a season-high (Week 5 at Jacksonville) and are tied for fourth most in franchise single-game history.

"He’s a guy I can count on in about every situation," Cutler said. "That’s why we brought him here.”

For the season Marshall has 81 receptions for 1,017 yards and eight touchdowns ranking tied for seventh, 12th and tied for 12th respectively in Bears single-season annals.

"I hope that this is the last place that I catch 1,000 yards," said Marshall. "I’m really proud to be a Bear and when I look back on my legacy as a football player, I want it to be as a Bear. This is a great opportunity for me, my family, and I just need to continue to work. I’m not there yet, on and off the field, have to do a better job and I understand that.”
