Since Jay Cutler is recovering from a concussion and Jason Campbell is slated to start Monday against the San Francisco 49ers, the Chicago Bears reacted by signing a quarterback today. A league source first told Scout, and the Bears later announced that they've signed veteran backup Josh McCown.

McCown started twice in three games last season for the Bears, albeit with mixed results.

He completed 35 of 55 passes for 414 yards, two touchdowns and four interceptions. BR> To create a roster spot for McCown, who played collegiately at Sam Houston State in Texas, the Bears cut former Indianapolis Colts tight end Brody Eldridge.
