Chicago has elevated defensive tackle Nate Collins to the active roster and signed offensive tackle Jonathan Scott, while also releasing two players.

The Chicago Bears today reinstated defensive tackle Nate Collins off the Reserve/Suspended list. Collins was suspended for the first game of the season due to violating the team's substance abuse policy.

Collins is a third-year player out of Virginia who spent his first two years in the NFL with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He played in 13 total games the past two seasons, with no starts, accumulating 10 career tackles and 0.5 sacks.

During the preseason, Collins rotated between nose tackle and under tackle. He showed good strength and penetration. His versatility will make him a valuable member of the defensive tackle rotation, along with recently signed Amobi Okoye.

Chicago today also signed T Jonathan Scott. The 6-6, 318-pounder has started 28 of 58 games played for Detroit (2006-07), Buffalo (2009) and Pittsburgh (2010-11) after entering the NFL as a fifth-round pick (141st overall) of the Lions in the 2006 NFL Draft.

The club also released P Ryan Quigley from the active roster and T Cory Brandon from the practice squad. Chicago signed TE Dedrick Epps to the practice squad. The 6-3, 250-pound Epps appeared in three games for the Miami Dolphins in 2010 and has also seen time on the practice squads of San Diego, Indianapolis and the New York Jets.
