Chicago rookie offensive tackle Gabe Carimi has been ruled out for Monday night’s contest against the Philadelphia Eagles. He hasn’t played since suffering a dislocated knee in Week 2.

Chicago Bears rookie tackle Gabe Carimi was coming along well in his return from a dislocated knee suffered in Week 2. He practiced on a limited basis last week and had a full practice on Thursday. He was evaluated Friday morning and there was enough soreness to keep him out of yesterday’s practice. He did not practice again today and has officially been ruled out.

“Gabe Carimi hasn't responded as well as we wanted him to," coach Lovie Smith said today. "So we're going to keep him out another week. We're not going to play him this week."

The Bears are going to be very cautious with Carimi, especially considering how well the front five has played the past two games.

"I try not to stick my head into paper too much, but I'm pretty sure you guys are saying all the same things I'm thinking, which right now [is] we're getting better," said offensive line coach Mike Tice. "You've got a guy coming off an extended period of time out. So why force it?"

Lance Louis will replace Carimi at right tackle. Louis has started the past two games on the right edge and has performed fairly well. He’ll have a big test in front of him on Monday in the form of Eagles DE Jason Babin, who is third in the NFL with 9.0 sacks.

Other than Carimi, the Bears are fully healthy. Receiver Earl Bennett, who missed five games with a chest bruise, will return on Monday. As will DT Matt Toeaina, who missed the past two games with a knee injury.
